Forget about Anthropologie or Pier 1, if you want to find unique artwork or furniture to liven up your home JC Made is the store for you. Nestled in between ethnic restaurants and small boutiques, it is one of those stores you find when you’re not really looking. Filled with a mixture of old and new merchandise, it is really set apart from other stores in the area. It’s one of the last true antique stores in Jersey City.
Just by walking in you can just tell that this store is different. It feels like you’ve just found a treasure chest filled with items that are rare and different. The best part is that everything you see from the postcards to the furniture is for sale. Along with the antiques, JC Made sells artwork made by local artists. Most of the artwork theme’s are centered around Jersey City, allowing you to see the city through different eyes.
The store also carries souvenirs showcasing Jersey City pride. You can get everything including T- shirts, mugs, bottle cap necklaces among other things.
Owner Michael Casalinho opened the store with his sister in 2013. The staff has a down-to-earth vibe, warm and welcoming. Casalinho hopes that the store will eventually expand into a large online store, making these distinctive pieces available to anyone.
